Reinbold Engineering Group along with team members Falcon Engineering Ltd. and CTQ Consultants Ltd. have been awarded the City of Nelson’s District Heating Pre-Feasibility project. This project will involve the completion of a pre-feasibility study for a District Energy System (DES) in two areas in Nelson, British Columbia. The team will conduct a high-level engineering analysis to develop technical options and cost information for the use of high-efficiency DES’s with a significant renewable energy component that could support both new and existing buildings within the Lakefront and Selkirk-Davies areas. A recommendation for a DES for each study area will be produced reviewing the options of using Kootenay Lake as a heat sink, solar panels as a source of hot water, and a vertical bore hole geothermal as ground source heat sink.

Reinbold Engineering has completed numerous projects utilizing lake water heating/cooling, district energy systems, geo-exchange and solar thermal systems and is looking forward to the opportunity of sharing this expertise as part of completing this exciting project.
