Lake Water Cooling

Ground water source heating and cooling systems use the ocean, lakes, underground aquifers and rivers as a heat source or heat sink. Most of these systems use heat pumps to move heat between the water source and the building. In the summer, when a room within the building requires cooling, the heat pump takes heat from the room and delivers it to the water source. In the winter, the heat pump reverses so that it can take the heat in the water source and deliver it to the building. Most ground water source heat pump systems use a heat exchanger between the water source and the heat pump to protect the water’s natural environment.
