A seven storey, 160 unit retirement facility which was designed within the existing infrastructure of a partially demolished office building in downtown Regina. On-site amenities include a multipurpose room, activities and games room, theatre, hair salon, library, computer room, and country kitchen. The mechanical systems utilized geothermal wells and solar space heating to provide the Owner/Operator with an extremely energy efficient facility and low operating costs. The building utilizes solar heating for domestic hot water in the suites, and also assists a vertical borehole ground source heat pump system. The system consists of 54 boreholes installed to a depth of 485 feet and 30 flat plate Viessman panels. The solar is integrated with both the domestic water and geothermal to maximize the seasonal efficiency of both systems.
