The project has an existing 5 storey heritage building on site that will remain and a new 15 storey, 137-unit senior care facility will be constructed on an empty parking lot to the east of the building and will overhang the heritage building.  New structural systems (i.e. columns) will be installed through the Heritage building down to the existing foundations to support the new building above.  Maintaining the existing Heritage façade and interior post and beam finishes is critical for the project and has required the team to relocate equipment from the roof to the basement and to limit exterior penetrations to elevation that do not impact site lines that the public will view.
