Coniston Seniors Housing
This project consists of a new 55,000 ft², 5-storey affordable seniors rental building comprising 51 residential units.
Each residential suite is served by a high-efficiency air-source heat pump with an integrated energy recovery ventilator (ERV) in a compact, all-in-one Passive House-certified unit. This system provides space heating, cooling, and ventilation while maximizing energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
Common areas and amenity spaces are conditioned through a dedicated rooftop unit and standalone high-efficiency heat recovery ventilator (HRV), providing fresh air and maintaining indoor air quality levels utilizing HEPA filters.
The domestic hot water system is generated by CO₂-based air-source heat pumps, offering a highly efficient and low-carbon solution for water heating. Electric resistance boosters are provided to satisfy peak hot water demand and ensure reliable operation during periods of high usage.
The building also incorporates several energy-saving technologies to reduce operating costs and environmental impact, including:
- Photovoltaic (PV) panels for on-site renewable electricity generation.
- Drainage heat recovery systems that capture heat from wastewater and transfer it to the domestic hot water system, improving overall energy efficiency.
Together, these measures contribute to a low-carbon, high-performance building that supports affordability and sustainability.
