ENMAX South Seaton District Energy – Feasibility Study
Reinbold Engineering was engaged by ENMAX to evaluate the feasibility of a district energy system (DES) for a new development in South Calgary to serve over 1.1 million ft2 of single-family residential, low-rise multi-family residential and commercial space. The study included an evaluation of business-as-usual heating load duration curves to optimize the size of the proposed DES. Low-carbon and high-efficiency energy sources were evaluated for their potential energy cost and greenhouse gas emissions savings. Capital and annual maintenance costs for the 9,000kW central heating plant and energy transfer stations were estimated to evaluate the potential cost savings.
