Killam Apartment REIT Grid 5 – Energy Audit
Killam Apartment REIT had engaged Reinbold Engineering Group (REG) to conduct an ASHRAE Level 2 energy audit for Grid 5 Apartments located at 618 5th Avenue SW Calgary. The building was originally completed in 1966, includes seven stories of parking (one below grade), ground-level retail, and 22 stories of apartments (Level 6 – Level 28, and penthouse), taking up approximately 34,320 m2 of floor area.
As per REG’s audit, twelve Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) were evaluated and detailed as part of the energy audit. Our analysis provided Killiam with a short list of three ECMs which are estimated to require an overall investment of $950,000. These measures are expected to result in a 25% reduction in energy consumption and $130,000/year savings in utility costs. REG continues our energy retrofit service (MUA Replacement – Energy Recovery Ventilator) for Killam as an outcome of the Energy Audit project.
