Last Best Brewing & Distilling Co. is a craft brewery, distillery, and full-service eatery located in Calgary, combining a production brewery with a highly visible public dining and entertainment environment. The facility features nine stainless-steel brewing tanks prominently displayed within the space, allowing patrons to experience the brewing process as part of the overall restaurant atmosphere.

Reinbold Engineering Group provided mechanical engineering services for the facility, including HVAC design tailored to the unique requirements of a working brewery and distillery integrated within an occupied public space. The building’s open-ceiling design leaves the mechanical systems exposed and visible throughout the space, making careful coordination, equipment selection, and distribution an important part of both the functional and architectural design.

As one of Calgary’s early craft breweries, Last Best presented the opportunity to develop mechanical systems that support both the demanding environmental requirements of brewing operations and the comfort expectations of a busy restaurant and public gathering space.
