As part of its commitment to students, particularly those with dependent children and families, the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology is introducing new family-style housing to its existing single-student accommodation facilities.

Currently under construction, the family housing is located on the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology campus in Merritt, within walking distance of the existing academic buildings.

The new housing is a townhouse configuration, with each suite having two or three bedrooms. This will allow students with families to have a home on campus.

This project includes housing as well as a new 38-space childcare facility. The daycare has primarily two classes: one for preschoolers and one for infants and toddlers.

The building also features a nap room, kitchen, laundry facilities, staff room, and a manager’s office. Outside, a playground is configured for the two groups.

The new childcare building includes two classrooms dedicated to the NVIT’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program. The classroom wing includes two faculty offices, each with storage and washrooms.
