Formerly a bedding manufacturer’s warehouse in East Village Calgary, AB, the windows and mechanical systems were repaired, contaminated materials removed, floors refinished and new fire protection systems installed. Once tenants were selected, CMLC modernized the structure while preserving and restoring elements with significant heritage value, including 36 solid fir pillars, 22 metal radiators, some of the building’s brickwork and its metal barn doors. The north side of the Simmons building was opened up to provide spectacular views of the Bow River.
